​HOW DO I GET MY MOTORCYCLE LICENSE?

Step 1

Finish the required online eCourse and pass the in-person riding sessions. Access to the online e-course is provided after you register.

 

Step 2

Once you complete both the online eCourse and the riding portion of the course, we’ll let the Connecticut DMV know that you passed the Basic Rider Course.

Make an appointment at the Connecticut DMV to take the Motorcycle Permit Knowledge Test (this is different from the eCourse).

​

When you pass the test, the DMV will add the motorcycle endorsement to your license and mail you a new one.

Important Notes:

You don’t need to bring anything from class to the DMV.

​

We will submit your course results to the DMV. Your motorcycle license will be available for you at the CT DMV four days after you complete the course. For example, if your class ends on Sunday, your appointment should be on the following Thursday or later​​

If you already have your permit, that's fine. However, you will still need to schedule an appointment with the CT DMV after class to have your motorcycle license processed.

The CT DMV does not offer a specific appointment type for this, so please schedule any available appointment type. The important thing is simply to secure an appointment and get in the door.

Even though you won’t need a permit to ride, the permit test is still required (it’s an old Connecticut rule).
